With Thanksgiving just around the corner many of us are planning for a turkey dinner! Usually when cooking turkey the giblets are removed and thrown away. Experts estimate around 200 million pounds of turkey end up in the trash each Thanksgiving. This year instead of tossing them up-cycle your giblets and serve them to your dog as a nutritious and delicious treat! Giblets can include the the liver, kidneys, heart and gizzard. These organ meats are also full of protein, iron and vitamin A!
We suggest cooking all giblets even for raw fed dogs.
Remove giblets from turkey cavity prior to seasoning.
Rinse giblets with water.
Place giblets in pan with water.
Put pan on stovetop and bring to boil.
Reduce heat and cook for 5 to 10 minutes or until giblets are cooked through.
