Pumpkin is a household favourite for dogs but did you know you can up-cycle your pumpkin’s seeds as a nutrient dense snack for them as well?
Every year it is estimated that over 1 billion pounds of pumpkin get thrown away and ends up in landfills. This year when you are carving your festive pumpkins save the seeds for your dog. Not only are they tasty but pumpkin seeds are loaded with benefits.
Some of those include being packed with copper, zinc, calcium and iron. They also contain omega-3 fatty acids which are beneficial to your dogs over all health, cognitive performance and their skin and coat.
Last but not least they also contain antioxidants which protect against free-radical damage. We recommend grinding them into a powder and mixing them with your dogs meals!
If you do roast your pumpkin seeds just make sure you don’t add any salt.
